Weekend Reminders

Flip Chart - Comparing the New England, Middle, & Southern colonies, and the reasons people settled in the colonies.  If you didn't complete this assignment in class, it will be due Tuesday, November 13th (A-Day) and Wednesday, November 14th (B-Day). 

If you were in grade recovery on the 8th and 9th, you will be excused from the flip chart assignment.  However, you are still required to read pages 92-96 in your online textbook [stopping at Colonial Government]).


Chapter 4 Project Due Tuesday, November 13th (A-Day), and Wednesday, November 14th (B-Day)!  Start off the 2nd quarter on the right foot!  Directions for the project are below.  DON'T FORGET YOUR BIBLIOGRAPHY IN MLA FORMAT WITH AT LEAST 2 SOURCES!

Chapter 4 Project

Directions: You must choose one of the following projects to complete. There is an optional project to complete as extra credit. All projects (including the extra credit project) must be turned in on time.  Remember, you must include a bibliography in MLA format for each project. Students must use at least 2 sources (this does not include pictures).

1.   Research information on the following Enlightenment thinkers: a. Thomas Hobbes, b. John Locke, c. Baron de Montesquieu d. Jean-Jacques Roseau Create a short biographical book of that person. Your book should be 10 pages and focus mostly on his influence on the Enlightenment. Include only a brief summary of his childhood. It should have a least 7 visuals.

2.   Research information on the English colonies: New England colonies, Middle Colonies, or southern Colonies. Create a brochure showing information on the colony you choose. Include the names of the colonies, climate, major types of businesses conducted and major groups of people living in the area. Your brochure should include at least 7 visuals.

3.   Research information on the 1^st and 2^nd Continental Congress. On a regular poster board, compare the two Continental Congresses. Who attended the meetings? What was discussed? What was the outcome? Include at least 7 visuals.

Extra Credit:

1.   Research information on the different acts the Kings passed against the colonies. Create a mobile displaying at least 5 acts that were passed that affected the colonies. Each one must have a visual and a brief description of what it is. On a sheet of paper, explain the five acts you choose and the effects it had on the colonies. Choose one that you felt was the most important in pushing the colonist to fighting for independence. Explain why you feel that act pushed the colonist to fight for independence. Information must be typed or written in pen.

** Any project that is found to be plagiarized (directly copied from a website, book, or another student) will automatically be given a zero and a referral will be written. Student will not be given the opportunity to recycle the grade.***

25	Visuals	Visuals are accurate.  Visuals pertain to the time period. Visuals pertain to the project.  Visuals are clear and easy to see.
