Class Update & Colonial Timeline Directions

Monday, 10/26 (A-DAY)
  • Colonial Timeline Due (25 POINTS - 2nd Quarter Grade)
  • Extra Credit Project Due (30 POINTS - 1st Quarter Grade, Optional)
  • Students receive and begin working on study guide

  • Chapter 4 Study Guide Due (15 POINTS - 2nd Quarter Grade)
  • Chapter 4 Test (70 POINTS, 35 QUESTIONS - 2nd Quarter Grade)
  • DRIFTWOOD STUDENTS WILL MAKE UP TEST ON MONDAY, 11/2

Events Leading to Declaration of Independence Timeline Assignment
Directions:
1.   Create a horizontal timeline on the copy paper provided (or on back of this sheet).
2.   Your timeline should include the following events that led to the writing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776.  The following 10 events are NOT in chronological order, so you must put them in the correct order.
a.   Coercive Acts (Intolerable Acts)
b.   Proclamation of 1763
c.   Boston Tea Party
d.   Declaratory Act
e.   Meeting of the Second Continental Congress
f.     Stamp Act
g.   Townshend Acts
h.   French & Indian War
i.     Tea Act
j.     Meeting of the First Continental Congress
3.   Your timeline needs to include the dates of each event/act, a short 2-3 sentence summary of each event/act, and a visual corresponding with each event/act (drawn or printed).  Your timeline will also need a creative title.
Rubric:
25 points: All 10 events are listed on the timeline in chronological order.  The timeline has a creative title.  Each event has a short 2-3 sentence summary & corresponding visual. 
20 points: 8-9 events are listed on the timeline in chronological order with summary & visuals.  Title included.
15 points: 6-7 events are listed on timeline.  Summary, visuals & title included.
10 points or less:  5 or less events are listed on timeline in random order.  Very little summaries or visuals.  No title.
