Black History Month Extra Credit Project
Directions: Choose one of the following projects to complete below. All projects must include a bibliography of at least 2 sources in MLA format. This will count as a project grade.
1. Research the life of 5 famous African Americans. Create trading cards for the 5 you choose. Your trading card should have a picture on the front. On the back of the trading card, you should have information about that person and explain their impact on Black History (Why are they important?). Pick one person out of your 5 and write an extended response why you feel they are the most important.
2. Choose an important African American. Create a children’s book on that person. This children’s book should be for 3rd or 4th grade students. Your book should be at least 10 pages long. Your project should be put together like a book. No notebook paper! You should have visuals. Your book should not only tell the life of that person but also their significance to Black History. Along with your book include an extended response explaining why you choose that person and why you feel they are important.
